A Penny For Thought

I saw a post at the Daily KOS Web site that really piqued my interest. It is by "the girl", entitled "Lincoln and Obama about to align - and peace will guide our planet".
It is, of course, another of those hopeful posts. That is, it isn't a discussion of facts and reality so much as an expression of one's hopes and dreams, in spite of facts and reality.
Nevertheless, she writes, "It was a pin that looked like a good ol' Lincoln penny, but with a closer look, it was Obama's profile, and above it was written: In Obama We Trust. I loved it."
Wait a second. Did you see that? She loved the phrase: In Obama We Trust. Replacing God with Obama as an object of trust (that is to say: faith) is something that brings out love in her.
If anyone needed proof that there is a religious component to "Obamania", there it is.
Why is this an important factor?
Because of the historic record of political parties promoting a religious faith in the party's leader. Nazism is only a recent, and extreme example of the problem of putting one's faith in one's political leaders.
The result is that, when someone doesn't agree with that notion, those who hold to it attack the infidel with the same fervor and glee with which the Nazis (not to mention the Muslims) attack Jews.
So, what happens when their prophecy, that "peace will guide our planet," doesn't come true? They certainly won't blame the object of their faith and worship. That would be to repudiate their own ability to discern truth, not to mention raising doubt about their eternal fate. They will have to look for the infidels to blame, so they can march them off to the stake -- preheated to 451° F., of course.
If you still have any doubt in your mind that this is a religious experience "the girl" is talking about, she continues, "It immediately connected these two great men and again, as I've found myself so many times before, being spiritually moved in a way I just can't explain."
"Spiritual movement" is a way to express an experience that demonstrates the truth of religious faith.
These are her words, not mine. I don't have to make these things up, because reality is stranger than fiction -- at least, over at the Daily KOS. I couldn't make this up, because nobody would believe it, if I did.
Well, the next four years will tell the tale, but I have to wonder if this is only the beginning of the end for Christianity. We know that there is a "rebellion" or "falling away" (an apostacy) that comes in the End Times (2 Thessalonians 2:3). We know this apostacy is an idolatry focused on carnality (based on the letter to the church at Laodicea in Revelation 3:14-22). We know what the people who live at the beginning of the End Time period will be like (according to 2 Timothy 3:1-4:8). Is there any doubt left whether we are in the End Times?
How long before the Antichrist is revealed?
