It is a shock to my system to hear Sean or one of the Talkers say, "Barack Obama is my president." I just can't stand to hear the phrase spoken by voices I have come to trust to some degree or other.
I'm the kind of person, though, who isn't afraid to analyze even the most offensive proposition. So, I wanted to begin this new BLOG with the question:
Is Barack H. Obama my president?
There are two honest answers to that question.
- To the extent that Obama is elected, yes, he is my president.
- Considering Obama's stated positions and history on every issue of relevance to me, my community and country, and all humanity, Barack Obama does not represent me.
Too bad, but my President-elect, and soon-to-be President of the United States will, for the next four years, fail to represent me on issues like abortion, national defense, respect for the military, economic policy, education, the meaning and impact of the Constitution on the objects which the Federal Government may address, et cetera. That is, my position will not be represented in any issue of moment.
In addition, the Congress will not represent me, either. Come to think of it, there isn't one official governmental body or political party that actually represents me right now.
I'm an orphan, in every respect.
That is freedom.
